Watson Drouillard

Project manager, Civil Engineering Student, Interpreter

Watson attended school at Lycee Anacaona of Leogane, Haiti.  He excelled academically, and was chosen as one of  fifty students to start a new program, New Secondary, by the Haitian National Ministry of Education. He spent four years in New Secondary, and in the third year of this program, a devastating earthquake in the west of Haiti destroyed his hometown of Leogane. In the aftermath of the earthquake, he worked at a Hospital operated by WorldWide Village in Leogane.  He served as an interpreter for American doctors who were treating catastrophic injuries sustained in the disaster.  In June 2010, he began working for medical teams who ran mobile clinics in rural Haitian communities. He has been working in mobile clinics as an interpreter for U.S.-based medical teams since that time.

Watson graduated on July 1, 2011, and passed the national exam with his school's highest honors soon after.  He then attended engineering college at at University Quisqueya. After witnessing the devastating 2010 earthquake, he was more resolved than ever to help with the rebuilding of Haiti.  

Watson's professional interests are civil engineering and earthquake-resistant buildings.  He also excels at project management and contracting with local tradespeople for construction projects in Haiti.
